Plus Size Jeans for Wholesale Buyers
Plus size jeans for retailers: size range planning, fit notes, stretch and waistband options, tiered pricing and private label. To be confirmed.

Overview
Plus size jeans are cut for a wider range of hip, thigh and waist measurements than a standard size run. For retailers, the category is driven by fit consistency across the size range and by fabric that stays comfortable through the day. A plus size program is most successful when it is planned as a full size run from the start, rather than as a few sizes added to a standard range.
Retail scenarios
- Dedicated plus size denim sections in women's apparel stores, placed near the standard denim wall.
- Online size filters and category pages that present the full size run with consistent measurement charts.
- Stores that serve customers who ask for stretch and comfort in their denim, with an elastic or stretch waistband as a key feature.
- Seasonal programs that carry the same silhouettes as the standard range, so that all customers see the same styles.
Fit notes
Plus size grading is not a simple scale-up of a standard pattern. The hip, thigh, rise and waist proportions change across the size run, and the grading must be checked on fit models at the first and last sizes in the run. We recommend that buyers agree the full size chart in writing, including the measurement points and tolerances, before the first bulk order.
Waistband design is a key fit point. Elastic and stretch waistbands change how the jeans sit and how they feel after wear, so the waistband option should be approved on the fit sample for each size group.
Fabric and wash options
Fabric recovery, stretch level, fiber content and wash are open for discussion. Stretch denim is often requested for this category, and the stretch level should be matched to the waistband and the seat block. Available fabrics, stretch specifications, wash options and development lead times are to be confirmed in writing.

Customization
Private label options for plus size jeans, including size labels, care labels, waistband detail and packaging, are to be confirmed in writing. Custom size charts are reviewed together with the fit sample.
Grading risk control across the size run
Return risk in plus size denim concentrates at the two ends of the run. Sizes near the middle of the chart are usually graded with confidence, while the first and last sizes carry the real risk, because grading rules that work in the middle of the run stop matching real body proportions at the extremes. The practical control is to require fit approval at the smallest size, the largest size and one middle size, all cut in the production fabric, before any bulk is released.
The written size chart should also state, per size, the waist, hip, rise, thigh and inseam values together with the tolerances, so that a later dispute is settled against a document instead of against a sample that may no longer exist. The grading method behind the chart is described on the size grading page, and buyers who extend an existing standard range into plus sizes should read the fit consistency notes on the inconsistent fit page before reusing the same grading rules.
Keep the approved fit blocks on file for the next season as well. Reusing a documented, approved block shortens the development cycle and keeps the fit stable while the washes and finishes change around it.
